The Gullah Geechee Initiative Foundation, Inc. (GGIF) is a non-profit organization that provides athletic, cultural, and academic services to the young people of St. Helena Island, SC, preparing them for community service and a life of excellence. Our programs foster knowledge of self and preventing youth from engaging in juvenile delinquency and performing poorly academically.

The St. Helena Athletes Academy (SHAA) is the Gullah Geechee Initiative Foundation’s (GGIF) most recent program. SHAA is dedicated to using sports as a vehicle to engage youth on St. Helena Island. Therefore, in its inception year, SHAA will focus on 7 and 8-year-old students who attend St. Helena Elementary School.

The Gullah Geechee Initiative Foundation, Inc. (GGIF) will follow our year-round curriculum that has different community events, programs, and workshops on an average of once a month.

The Gullah Geechee Initiative Foundation, Inc. (GGIF) has a partnership with the Boys and Girls Club of The Low Country, as an independent contractor, providing an after-school program at St. Helena Elementary School. GGIF offers a curriculum with a variety of programs for elementary school students.
